Beth Hart, a Los Angeles native she is a blues-influenced singer and street performer who was formerly. In 1995 she debuted with Immortal. Her outspoken personality and her innate musicianship attracted the attention of many in addition to her emotion-filled live performances and voice that was compared to Janis Joplin. Chuck Taylor, Billboard's October 2nd issue of 1999, declared that Hart is "the perfect example of a natural woman" and described her as "bawdy and funny, and chatty with her choice in spiced languages, free-wheeling and freewheeling." However, that's nothing in comparison to her stage presence which is where the tall and gaunt singer/songwriter struts and squalls out songs with the energy that is Mick Jagger .... At times, she's taken her seat on the piano or in the center of the stage, sitting with no pretense, her legs draped across the back of a chair, conjuring a voice so delicate and pained that you're wondering whether she's about to break down, or do you think you'll cry. "Drawing reactions such as this starting from the moment she performed on stage for amateur contests as young teenagers, Hart nonetheless experienced misgivings about the business of music when her career finally started to grow. Hart left her band when it was unsuccessful touring all over the world. Hart then spent nearly four years pondering and solving problems through music writing. Hart was ready to give her professional life an opportunity to re-enter the scene and returned in 1999 with Screamin' for My Supper. The album that showcased Hart's songwriting talents, with the vulnerability and honesty of songs about overcoming life's difficulties.
